Control Systems Engineer
CPM Europe (120 employees, Zaandam) is a leading provider of process and equipment solutions for the oilseed, animal feed, recycling and bioenergy markets. To facilitate further growth and development of CPM’s automation activities, we are looking for a Control Systems Engineer.
Job description
At CPM Europe, you will work in close cooperation with your colleagues within the Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and R&D departments. The function has a strong multi-disciplinary character. In combining state-of-art controls and data technology, with direct involvement in process optimisation and equipment design, we strive for maximum synergy. As a Control Systems Engineer, you also take responsibility for the installation and commissioning of the control systems, in cooperation with global CPM Automation and with the local Service & Commissioning department. Together with them, you also take part in the direct technical customer support of the supplied CPM control systems.
Essential functions
Execute multiple automation projects from definition, design, documentation, programming, configuration and testing, upto commissioning and aftersales support.
Develop, design and test control functionality and execution in cooperation with R&D-team.
PLC and HMI programming, testing, project documentation and equipment listing.
Support commissioning (start-up), updates, trouble shooting and modification of control systems and relevant equipment, both remotely (phone, VPN connection) and on-site.
Support the Service & Commissioning department in (multi-disciplinary) problem analysis.
Diagnose problems with installed equipment and provide field support to customer locations.
Provide customer service assistance, to include consultation of installations, expansions, repairs, and training of customer personnel.
Interface with CPM Automation colleagues in UK and US, to enable global synergy of the developed control products.
Help with the development and preparation of documentation of operating procedures, testing and field service.
Develop programming standards related to CPM equipment, in order to create rapid deployments of products.
Maintain and organise documentation (FDS, SRS, Manuals, etc)
Supervise and inspect the installation, maintenance and performance of CPM equipment and the mechanical and electrical equipment that interfaces to our control systems.
Qualifications
Minimally bachelor’s degree (‘HBO’) in Electrical/Automation Engineering, or equivalent technical background;
Preferred 2 to 4 years of work-related skill, knowledge or experience;
Practical understanding and working capabilities with programming PLC logic, HMI screens and SCADA (e.g. Siemens S7, Schneider M241, Pro-Face HMI & Scada etc.);
Intimate knowledge of PLC programming, in Ladder, CFC, STL, etc, regardless of PLC manufacture;
Basic knowledge of scripting and object-oriented programming languages (.NET, VBscript, JavaScript, etc) (or willing to learn)
Intimate knowledge of data communication protocols (ModbusTCP, Profinet, Profibus etc.);
Understanding of industrial process control systems using PLC and PC based architectures, IoT and Cloud based services;
Knowledge of related hardware or capability to coordinate (outsourcing of) electrical engineering;
Understanding of practical application of process technology and mechanical engineering;
Good communication with other disciplines (Process, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering);
Good command of the English language and preferably Dutch (or willing to learn the latter);
Willing to travel, mainly within Europe and occasionally in Asia or Africa (estimate 20 – 40 days annually).
